If you haven't eaten at Tilleys before, here is a brief explanation of our menu.

All the dishes on this menu are small to medium in size. You may choose as many as you like. We have found two to be sufficient, particularly if you would like one of our delicious home made desserts. If you wish you may add any of the extras to your choice and convert your selection into a more conventional main course.

APPETIZERS

 

Hot toasted garlic bread (v)

Crudites and Tapenade (sufficient for 2 people)
Tapenade is a Provincale dip made with olives, anchovies, capers and olive oil.

Gaspacho (v)
Chilled, spicy, tomato soup; made with tomato, cucumber, onion, peppers, garlic, chillies and olive oil.

Dry sured smoked Scotch salmon, smoked eel, Scotch salmon marinated in honey, and roasted over oak. Smoked cherry tomatoes. Served with coriander leaf and lemongrass creme fraiche.

Thinly sliced, cured beef. Served with rocket leaves, Parmesan shavings, freshly squeezed lemon juice, herb scented virgin olive oil, and black pepper.

Salad of cornish white crab meat, quartered hard boiled egg, and mayonnaise.

French snails cooked in their shells, with garlic and herb butter.

Poached smoked haddock in a creamy Cheddar cheese and saffron sauce, topped with breadcrumbs, chopped nuts and Cheddar cheese. Grilled until golden brown and crispy.

Crostini (v)
A thick slice of Chevre goats' cheese on a slice of brioche fried in olive oil. Grilled until hot. Served with a chive flavoured creme fraiche; and roasted fennel and sweet red peppers.

Served with, a salad of mixed leaves, Parmesan shavings, and pickled cherry tomatoes.

MEDIUM DISHES

 

Gratin a l'oignon
the classic French onion soup. Made with, fried onions, garlic, beef marrowbone stock, red wine, and Madeira. Topped with, toasted flutes and Gruyere cheese. Baked in the oven for 15 minutes.

Fresh asparagus spears, coated with Mornay sauce, topped with cherry tomatoes and Gruyere cheese.

Served with a tomato, red onion and mixed leaf salad; and a tarragon and garlic Aioli sauce.

Sliced potato, onion, Panacetta, a little garlic, Reblochon cheese and double cream; baked in the oven.

Served with, a mixed leaf salad and a sweet chilli sauce.

LARGE DISHES

 

All the large dishes are served with an individual portion of Dauphinoise potatoes.

 

Spagetti Vialli (v)
Served with, a rich tomato sauce, made with virgin olive oil. the spaghetti is tossed in the sauce with pieces of buffalo Mozzarella, fresh basil, and oregano. Dauphinoise potatoes are not served with this dish.

Stuffed, roasted aubergine a la Tunisienne (v)
Half a roasted aubergine, filled with chickpeas, tomato, onion, potato, apricot, dates, garlic, chilli, cumin, caraway seeds and coriander leaves. Garnished with chopped red onion, coriander and cucumber.
